WEEK 14 - MARCH 30 - APRIL 05, 2014

This week we are focusing on time in prayer. We begin in prayer by emphasizing our attachment to God. Prayer is primarily an issue of relational connection and partnership. From relational richness we move out to take our spiritual authority over the issues of life. It is imperative that we be a people of prayer. The greatest compliment someone can give you is, “That is a person of the Word, the Spirit and prayer.”

The video teaching is by Pastor Willie George on the topic of prayer. The series is outstanding. Enjoy.

WEEK 13 - MARCH 23 - MARCH 29, 2014

The goal of prayer isn’t to witness the answer to our prayers. That sounds counterintuitive. The answers manifesting are certainly apart of the relationship, but prayer is about connecting with God. The greatest benefit of prayer is knowing and emotionally being one with Him. This week’s focus in on Prayer Joys.

WEEK 12 - MARCH 16 - MARCH 22, 2014

With a self-focused approach to relating with God Christians often approach God as a consumer. But worship is giving God experience with a human that loves Him with all their heart, soul, mind and strength. The goal of worship isn’t to leverage encounters for ourselves, but to give God encounters of our adoration. Worship is esteeming God’s value. Of course God’s desires that we encounter Him. But our selfish, limited motivations can diminish the entire purpose and relational richness. This must become a fundamental part of our development in relationship with God.

WEEK 11 - MARCH 09 - MARCH 15, 2014

Jesus taught us to "abide" in Him (John 15:1-10). This is a term that emphasizes attachment and bonding. We are called into the fellowship (koinonia / bonding) with God's Son.

The Bible Teaching Audio/Video is a teaching on Learning to Pray by Pastor John Ortberg. It is a tool to help you learn how to bond with Christ.

WEEK 10 - MARCH 02 - MARCH 08, 2014

CALLINGS, ROLES AND ASSIGNMENTS OVERVIEW

When most people think of CALLINGS they think of roles and assignments (tasks) that God wants them to do. This is partly true but very incomplete. To simply have a delegated role or task to execute on is far from God’s ultimate dream when He called us. We will get more into that another time. For now let’s begin to show the relevance of a calling as it relates to God’s Kingdom, family, business, and purpose.

Throughout Scripture we learn the most about CALLING roles and assignments by the mandates on apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. From that filter we add to it the other things like family roles/assignments, ministry roles/assignments, social roles/assignments, church member/volunteer support roles/assignments, roles and assignments in mission towards worldwide justice - compassion and ethics, and roles and assignments in business leadership.

While we are confident God delegates roles and assignments to us, the greater issue is not performing a task FOR the Lord, but perform the tasks WITH the Lord. This partnership is where we get glimpses into the glorious attributes of God.

YOUR VOCATION IS NOT YOUR CALLING!

Your vocation is NOT your CALLING. Your vocation is a role and an assignment (task) that God has given you responsibility over. Your CALLING is to KNOW GOD experientially and dynamically; to be partnered with Him in day-to-day activities. One of the expressions of that HOLY CALLING is in your delegated roles and assignments. The CALLING isn’t to the job though. The CALLING is to partner with God in DOING the job. You actually can do the job assigned by God and never fulfill your CALLING. You only fulfill the CALLING by dynamically partnering with the Spirit to execute the roles and tasks.

John 15:4-5 NKJV "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 "I am the vine, you [are] the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

1 Corinthians 3:11-16 NKJV For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation [with] gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. 14 If anyone's work which he has built on [it] endures, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. 16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and [that] the Spirit of God dwells in you?

So the CALLING, PURPOSE AND DESTINY ON YOUR LIFE is to KNOW GOD intimately and be dynamically partnered with Him in performing His will in the earth. The PROCESS trumps the PROJECT. It is possible complete an assigned PROJECT, but perform it in heart distance from God. This would equate to failing to fulfill your CALLING.

On the other hand, if you are…
  • Conversationally praying over the projects
  • Depending on the Spirit and His giftings
  • Exercising spiritual authority to glorify God
  • Pursuing God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength

…whether you see immediate results or not, God says you are FULFILLING YOUR CALLING. And if you are doing this FOR HIS GLORY, TO LOVE HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEART, then you will find traction in the prosperity of life. Yet prosperity isn’t your trophy; prosperity is merely an inevitable side effect of your process.

Have fun in this week’s Dashboard Devos. Our Scripture reading is Ephesians chapter 3. Read it in translations, a different one each day, like Amplified, New Living Translation, New International Version, etc. At www.Biblegateway.com you have a long list of options. Meditate the readings each day and squeeze the most juice out of each day’s readings.

Be sure to have the kids memorize the Scripture Memorizations at the bottom left corner.

The Bible Teaching Audio/Video is a profound renewal of our thinking about generosity, tithing and giving. Be sure to lock and load on that. This week's quick links are at:
